We were selected as one of twenty U. S. libraries to participate in the Community Connect: Digital Access at Home, an initiative of the American Library Association (ALA) and Capital One that offers cash grants to help rural libraries offer internet access and financial education for their patrons.
We received five Wi-Fi hotspot devices that are available for patrons to borrow. These hotspot devices allow patrons to have Wi-Fi access anywhere there is a Verizon cell signal. Hotspot devices are available to check out for one week and currently, there is no cost to borrow. Hotspot devices are not able to be renewed and patrons must leave a week between borrows.
We also received $2,000 to purchase financial education books for children, teens, and adults. We hosted two financial programs based on the Ready, Set, Bank curriculum for our patrons.
